The Wellington Leader February 12, 1976

Mrs. Ethel Hester, a Wellington resident since 1964, died in Collingsworth General Hospital, Wednesday, February 4, following a heart attack. During the time she lived here, she had been an active worker in the Primitive Baptist Church to which she had belonged to since early in life. She had also lived in Collingsworth County many years ago, prior to the death of her husband, Claud A. Hester.

The former Ethel Gertrude Langley, she was born to James E. and Sally Jane Langley in Ryan, Okla, then the Indian Territory, August 29, 1899. She grew up at Rubottom, Okla. and was married there to Mr. Hester in 1913. He died In 1963. She came here from Ardmore.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Luree Claxton of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Lee Carmen of New Orleans, La.; one son, James A. Hester of Del Rio; four sisters, Mrs. Nannie Johnson and Mrs. Aubrey Stuckey of Wellington, Mrs. May Lowe of Marietta, Okla., and Mrs. John Barnhart of Garland; two brothers, Jim Langley of Wellington and Bill Langley of Derby, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
