Found in The State 14 November 1933: Frank Asbury Davis, 72, died at 10:50 last night at his residence, 1530 Richland street, after an illness of about four weeks. Mr. Davis was a well known shoe merchant of Columbia, having been in the shoe business here with his brother, E. P. Davis, for the last 40 years. He had retired about a year ago. The store was known as E. P. and F. A. Davis and was located on the 1700 block of Main street for many years. He was a devoted member of Washington Street Methodist church and was a man of high character. He was held in great respect by a wide circle of Columbians who mourn his passing. He was always upright in his business dealings and possessed those qualities which made for him many friends. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Gibson Davis; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Hook, both of Columbia, one son, Frank Tradewell Davis of Atlanta; one brother, Edmund P. Davis of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. P. H. Lachicotte of Columbia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
