She was born on March 4, 1921, in Lampasas to Lee C. and Almeda (Towell) Clark. She married Thomas E. Purl on November 12, 1945, who preceded her in death on April 20, 2003. Her parents also preceded her in death.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Texas. She taught school in Georgetown, South Houston and Austin, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Purl and wife Patricia of Lindale and Bob Purl of Brenham; three grandchildren, Steven Purl and wife Stacy, Todd Purl and wife Molly, and Beth Ann Purl; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Kathleen Purl.
Visitation was held Monday, October 25, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. A family committal was held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown followed by a memorial service at 2: 30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Michael Roberts officiating.
