THOMPSON - Alfred E. Carlson, 63, of 611 Riverside Drive, Grosvenordale, died Saturday in his home after a long illness.
He leaves his wife, Winifred (Adams) Carlson; two sons, Edward and Richard Carlson; a daughter, Anita Carlson, all of Grosvenordale; two sisters, Florence Dennett and Helen Martin, both of Brookfield; and seven grandchildren. He was born in Stafford, Conn., son of Alfred and Jennie (Baxter) Carlson, and lived here many years.
Mr. Carlson was a self-employed woodcutter for many years, retiring in 1987 due to illness.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 823rd Ordnance Base Depot Co.
Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale. The Rev. George Kiakis will officiate. Burial will be in West Thompson Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 9 to 11 a.m. tomorrow.
