BROOKFIELD Helena D. (Carlson) Mundell-Martin, 94, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in Quaboag on the Common. Her husband, John L. Martin died in Feb. 1987. She leaves three sons, Richard E. Mundell & his wife Kathleen of West Virginia, Roger D. Mundell & his wife Barbara, Ralph E. Mundell & his wife Diane both of Brookfield; a daughter, Gloria M. Justo of CT; a sister, Florence J. Denette of Brookfield; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by two step sons, John & Robert Martin; a step daughter, Alice McDermott and a brother, Alfred E. Carlson. Helen was born in Palmer, the daughter of the late Alfred & Jennie (Bergeron) Carlson. She worked as a housekeeper for Nichols Motor Lodge in Sturbridge, the Yankee Workshop and she was a nurses assistant at the Masonic Home in Charlton until she retired. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church and the Brookfield Senior Citizens Club. Helen was a loving mother, homemaker, enjoyed dress making and dolls.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in Pillsbury Funeral Home, Rte 9/Old West Brookfield Rd., Brookfield. The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 22 West Main St., West Brookfield. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery in Southbridge.
