THE TOMB
Died---In St. Joseph, July 28, from the results of a surgical operation for hemorrhoids, from which she had suffered for many years, Mrs. Susan E. Patterson, aged about 71 years.
Mrs. Patterson was the widow of the late Charles Patterson, the founder and editor of the Lexington Express, the first paper published in this city, and was a resident here for many years. She was buried by the side of her husband, in Machpelah cemetery, last Monday, from the Christian church, of which denomination she had long been a member, a large number of her old friends and acquaintances following her remains to the grave. She was a dutiful and loving wife and mother, a kind neighbor, a consistent Christian, and much loved and respected by all who knew her. Peace to her ashes.
