In 1847 a decision was made to build a new courthouse in Lexington Mo. Three Judges (today called commissioners) called for a magnificent structure to be built of the Classic Greek Revival design, they being Thomas Gordon, Nathaniel Price & Joseph W. Hall.

In 1970 this courthouse was placed on the National Historic Register. It still has a hole in front column from cannon shot from Civil War.
