Mrs. Ida C. Hostler, a resident of this community most of her lifetime, died Sunday in a local hospital. She had been ill for many weeks. The family home is at 211 S. Sycamore. Funeral rites will be held at 11:30 Tuesday morning in St. Mary's Cathedral. A requiem mass will be offered. Interment will be in Grand Island Cemetery. (Further funeral arrangements omitted here)
Mrs. Hostler was a native of Humphrey. She was born Dec. 29, 1883, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sassen. When she was a small child, the family came to this community and it was here that she completed her schooling and grew to womanhood. It was on Nov. 11, 1903, in Grand Island that she and John H. Hostler were married. Three children were born to them. Mr. Hostler died March 29, 1911. Mrs. Hostler continued to maintain her home in this city from that time. She was a member of the parish at St. Mary's Cathedral and was affiliated with the Altar Society of her church and with the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert C. Garnier and Mrs. R. R. Morin, both of Grand Island; one granddaughter and one sister, Mrs. Mary Lyons of Grand Island. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Meves; three brothers, Edward, William and Herman Sassen; and three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Stolle, Miss Anna Sassen and Mrs. Carrie Russell.
