Kathy went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born September 14, 1945 in Paw Paw the daughter of the late Glenn and Kathryne (Goens) Ampey. Kathy was a graduate of Paw Paw High School Class of 1964. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who devoted many hours to committees and activities at the Paw Paw Middle and High School. She was employed by Consumers Power Company for 30 years retiring in 2000. She loved scrap booking, gardening, motor cycling and keeping up on her family genealogy. On September 25, 1965 in Decatur, Kathy was united in marriage to George M. Russell who survives. Also surviving are a granddaughter, DeAnna Nichole Russell of Paw Paw; two brothers, Wilbur (Ruth Ann) Ampey of Mattawan and Sherman (Darlene Wilson) Ampey of Paw Paw; two sisters, Priscilla (Carroll) Hooks of California and Emma Hailey of St. Louis, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Marie Russell, her parents, Kathryne and Glenn Ampey and a sister, Rita Sanders. Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw . Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 AM. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church.
