Rosemary B. Sáiz, was born on February 15, 1942, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 10, 2012.
Rosemary was born in Albuquerque, but lived in Veguita and later, Las Nutrias, NM, graduating from La Joya High School where she participated in cheerleading and as illustrator and editor of the monthly Bruin newsletter.
Rosemary worked tirelessly on her ranch, milking the cow, gathering eggs, feeding and caring for horses, cows and sheep.
Rosemary enjoyed working her garden, canning, creating beautiful ceramics and creative oil paintings, as well as baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes for decades. Rosemary was blessed with a great artistic talent which she used to create beautiful and meaningful works of art that are cherished by her children and friends.
A lover of life and her Southwestern culture, she taught all seven of her children how to dance and imparted a love of New Mexican, and country music that told the story of our way of life. Most importantly of all she loved her family, and invested her own time in formally and informally home-schooling and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and teaching them by example the value of family, faith and forgiveness. Her home was always a refuge for family members who needed a place to stay or live, and she always had some mouth-watering food on the stove.
Rosemary retired as a secretary from Belen Middle School where she served in a variety of positions over 29 years including In School Suspension (ISS). Her favorite duty was taking care of special needs students, and she was adored by everyone whose life she touched. Rosemary taught catechism for children of the La Joya parish. Rosemary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, nina, wife and daughter.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Jenaro and Trinidad Black, her beloved daughter, Trinidad Serna and her husband, Florencio Sáiz, sister, Rosie García, brother, Alfred Black, sons-in-law, Kyle Bond and Jeff Baldonado and great-grandsons, Isaiah Griego and Marcos Carrillo.
