GREENSBORO - Miss Cassie Roberta Windsor, 97, passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Clapp's Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Reidsville. Officiating will be Rev. Don Clement.
Cassie was born on June 7, 1909, in Simpsonville Twsp., Rockingham County, the daughter of Edwin "Edd" Franklin Windsor and Ida Ann Powell Windsor. She lived in Monroten and Benaja Communities until moving to Greensboro about 1951. She worked with Blue Bell until her retirement. Her father was the first Superintendent of the Sunday School of Fairview Church. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Rockingham County and then joined New Bessemer Baptist Church in Greensboro.
She was a loving sister and aunt.
Cassie was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira Windsor and Esca Windsor; three sisters, Jewel W. Kanipe, Ruby W. Jones and Pearl Elizabeth Windsor; one grand niece, Janah Roberson and one grand nephew, Timothy Windsor.
Surviving are one sister, Edna W. Skeen (Mrs. Earl) of Asheboro; nieces, Helen W. Booth and husband, Royce of Pleasant Garden, and Iris W. Read and husband, Herbert of Ridgeway, Va.; nephews, Wayne Windsor and wife, Sybil of Conover, Jerry Windsor and wife, Nina of Taylorsville and John Skeen of Asheboro; special nephew, Richard Lee Jones and wife, Linda of Jacksonville; grand nieces and nephews, Suzanne B. Mateen, Jennifer Roberson McCollough, Steven Booth, Michael Windsor, Lee Windsor, Heather Skeen, and Tyler Skeen; great grand nieces and nephews, Daniel, Katie, Martha, Isaiah, Ethan, Katleyn, and Automne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Bessemer Baptist Church Building Fund, 4115 Hines Chapel Road, McLeansville, N.C. 27301.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
