Patricia Carol Richmond, age 87, of Macon, MO, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Samaritan Memorial Hospital in Macon.

Patricia (Pat) was born on February 2, 1933 to Samuel and Marjorie Armstrong Richmond in Boonville, MO. She received her degree in sociology from William Jewell College in 1956, then moving to Kansas City where she worked as a social worker. After a brief stint in Kansas City, Pat moved to Albuquerque, NM where she continued in social work for several more years. She returned to Missouri in 1967 to devote herself to her employment as the only Child Welfare Worker in Cole County. She would stay there for the better part of three decades, first as a social worker and then later as the Director of the Division of Family Services. After retiring, Pat enjoyed travel with her childhood friend, Nancylea Hunt, and attending services and senior adult groups at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City. She remained in Jefferson City until 2014, when she moved to Macon to be closer to family.

Pat had a passion for helping kids as her life work would confirm. She was also an avid pianist who entertained audiences and gave piano lessons for over 60 years. Pat enjoyed watching tennis and football, but her favorite sport was shopping. She loved to knit, sew and read. Her black, cocker spaniel, “Monk”, was her devoted companion. “Aunt Pat”, as she was known to many, was known for her frank nature, generosity and thoughtfulness.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother, Ron Richmond. She is survived by her nephew, Michael (Stacie) Richmond of Columbia, TN, her nieces, Christy (Mimi) Fitzgerald-Richmond of Inola, OK and Rona (Chris) Nelson of Macon, MO, and her sister-in-law, Pam Richmond of Columbia, MO. She is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

A private family service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Burial will follow the service at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch.
