Jereleine "Jere" (Wilson) Payton Okamoto was the daughter of Marvin Lester Wilson and his first wife, Vernia Helen Fugitt. She grew-up in Stone County, Missouri, in and around the town of Hurley. She graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. On Jan. 23, 1945, she married John Max McGuire in Springfield. They were divorced in 1946. She married Earl Wesley Payton Sep. 20, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sometime about 1950 they moved to Los Angeles, California. They were the parents of five children. The oldest two were born in Corpus Christi, and the three youngest were born in California. Two of the children are living. Jere worked in the escrow department of Cal Fed bank for many years. After Earl's death in 1958, Jere married Tom Okamoto, Oct. 17, 1969. They continued living in Los Angeles and Orange Counties in southern California until they moved to Idaho, where they settled in a small community near Buhl. This is where she died Sep. 24, 1997.
