Sidney S. Moreland, Jr.
Services for Sidney S. Moreland, Jr., of Homer were held Wednesday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Homer with the Rev. Larry Robertson, Rev. Terrell Lowe and Rev. Harry Booth, officiating. Burial was at Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Mr. Moreland died Tuesday, May 21, 1996, at Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, following a brief illness.
Mr. Moreland was a farmer, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer, a member of the Methodist Men's Sunday School Class and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Shields Moreland and a grandson, Joel Stephen Moreland.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney S. Moreland, III and wife Frenchie Moreland of Minden; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan Moreland Guy and Howard Guy of Shreveport; granddaughter and husband, Lynn and Ray Smith of West Monroe; grandson and wife Gaylon and Brenda Guy of Shreveport; Geoffrey and Elizabeth Guy of Shreveport; Scott and Mona Moreland of Houston; Sidney Seaborne Moreland, IV of Baton Rouge; and Jennifer and Darryl Osborn of Keithville; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gaylon Guy, Geoffrey Guy, Scott Moreland, Sidney Moreland, IV, Robert Tippett and Stephen Nickerson.
Honorary Pallbearers were the First United Methodist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Homer.
