Joseph “Joe” E. Hardin
Joseph “Joe” E. Hardin, 103, of Elizabethton, was called home to Jesus on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from Ivy Hall Nursing Home following a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of Dayton and Kathrine Hardin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Joe, two sisters, Nancy Scott and Evie Crow, and three brothers, Sanford, Howard and Thel Hardin.
Mr. Hardin was retired from North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Anna B. Hardin, two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and David Roberts and Jane and Kenneth Radford, and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Alma Bowers, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Keith Bowers, Traci Ward and her husband Jason, Shane Radford and his wife April, Karen Corder and her husband John “Tater,” Heather Helbert and her husband Shane and Anna Roberts; eight great-
grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Taylor, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Hardin will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrell Holly and Mr. Doug Rasnick officiating. Music will be under the direction of Hayley Bowers and Shon Blevins. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, and at the residence of his daughter, Nancy Roberts, 1373 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, in the Bowers Cemetery (Joe Hardin Lane, Blue Springs Community). Active pallbearers will be David Roberts, Shane Helbert, Jason Ward, Shane Radford, Keith Bowers and David Babb.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Willow Springs Baptist Church and the staff of
