Felmer James Hardin was born the fifth child of William Dayton Hardin and Katherine Vandeventer. He was the twin of Lottie Mae Hardin who died one and a half years after her birth. He lived in West Columbia, Richland, South Carolina for 14 years prior to his death. Unfortunately, the death date on his tombstone is incorrect. An obituary and a burial notice in The State newspaper clearly indicate that he died 30 Jan 1867.
