Died – At his home, near Kasson, Friday, July 25, 1896, Martin Degner, aged 74 years, 9 months and 12 days. Mr. Degner had been sick for several months and his death was not unexpected.
He was born in Germany in 1821. He emigrated to America in 1857 and settled in Manitowoc County near Kasson, where he has since resided. He served in the army during the war and was a member of Hiram Gibbs Post, GAR. He was a highly respected citizen, a loving husband and father and his death will be mourned by a large circle of friends. He leaves a wife and six children. The funeral services were held at the Kasson church last Sunday afternoon.
