Killed by Lightning - The Oxford Press, says: On Saturday afternoon last, during the thunder gust, the lightning struck and killed Archibald Campbell, of West Nottingham Township. Mr. Campbell was in his hay field bunching hay, in preparation for the shower, when the fluid descended upon him, passed through his neck, struck and splintered the fork handle and wrenched the tines. James Boyd and a colored boy who were at work in the field, about thirty yards distant, were knocked down by the shock, but not seriously injured. Two other persons on a neighboring hill were also stunned by the same discharge. Mr. Campbell was a young farmer, much respected by his friends and neighbors for his good qualities, industry and sobriety. He leaves a wife and two children. It has been stated that violent discharges of electricity are very frequent in this neighborhood, caused no doubt, by some local attraction.
