At the early age of nine months, with her parents, emigrated to American and lived at various points in Canada and eastern United States. Later they came to Darlington, Wis., where on November 27, 1860, she was united in marriage to Micheal E. Sweeney who preceded her in death four years ago last July.
In 1872 she, with her little family and her husband, moved to O'Brien county where she resided until her death She was one of the early pioneer women of the county.
Mrs. Sweeney was the mother of seven children, Thomas J., Mrs. J.J. Kennelly of Milwaukee; James A, Sr. M. Seraphia of Cedar Rapids, Ia., William H and John E and Mrs. Theodore Powell, all of whom are left to survive her. She is also survived by three brothers, Thomas Leahy of Milwaukee, William of Kansas City, Mo., and James Leahy of Schulsburg, Wis., and by twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild.
