Died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 1979, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 58, a native of Church Point. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and construction superintendent at Gully & Associates.

Body at Welsh Funeral Home, with visiting from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. Religious services at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, conducted by Msgr. William Greene. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Survived by his wife, Mrs. Irene B. Fontenot, Baton Rouge; mother, Mrs. Arduse Fontenot, Church Point; a sister, Mrs. Huey Guidry, Church Point; three brothers, Emery J. and Kenneth Fontenot, both of Baton Rouge, and C.J. Fontenot, Los Altos, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Janet Smith, Mrs. Cecile Smelling and Mrs. Amy McCleskey, all of Baton Rouge; and a stepson, Robert M. Ellis, Melbourne, Fla.

Preceded in death by his father, Arduse Fontenot, and a brother, Austin J. Fontenot.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth, John H., Emery J. and Harold Fontenot, Curt Kertacy and Lynwood Smith.

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post No. 38 and was president of the Irish Club at Baton Rouge.
