Bernadine "Bernie" Annette Movchan, 72, Minot, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Bernadine was born November 28, 1937 on the family farm in McLean County, North Dakota, the daughter of Ben and Frieda (Edinger) Fischer. She was raised on the farm near Max and attended country schools in that area, graduating from Max High School in 1955.

Bernie furthered her education at a Business College in Oklahoma City, OK. She was united in marriage to James Movchan on October 29, 1961 in Minot.

They made their home in Minot throughout the years, where she was employed with Minot Builder's Supply, designing catalogs for the company for more than twenty-five years.

Bernie was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Minot, where she actively participated in the Singing Christmas Tree program for many years. She also took great pleasure in being a Missionette leader with her girls.

Bernie truly loved good food, beautiful flowers, gardening, camping, fishing, ceramics and sewing. She enjoyed being at the lake with family and was an excellent water skier. She loved dressing her girls like dolls in outfits that she personally designed and made. One of her greatest legacies was her devotion to create many great memories for her girls, whom both will tell you, she was the "best mom in the world"!

Her loving family includes: husband of forty-eight years, Jim Movchan, Minot; daughters, Shelley Jean (Marvin) Smith, Manhattan Beach, CA, Teri Jo (Dennis) Boylan, Pahrump, NV; sisters, Lavonne Leich, Vergas, MN, Grace DeLong, and Vivian Myers, both of Monroe, WA; brothers, Richard Fischer, Ellensburg, WA, Leo Fischer, Monroe, WA, Larry Fischer, Des Moines, WA and Tim Fischer, Iowa; sister-in-law, Susan Fischer; brother-in-law, John Schlect.
