OBITUARY—BOBST
Jacob Bobst was born in Germany, (Nov 2, 1842), and died Jan 2, 1917, aged 74 years and 2 months. He came to America with his parents when four years of age and located on the farm on which he died. When 14 years of age, he united with the German Evangelical church at Beaver and remained a faithful member. In 1862, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kuntzman, and to this union 8 children were born, 5 boys and three girls, 6 of whom are living, together with 24 grandchildren. The surviving children are Mrs. Martin Hines of South Charleston, Philip of Martell, Iowa, George, Peter, Christopher and Mrs. Philip Schrader of Beaver, and one sister Mrs. Conrad Leist. Mr. Bobst was an invalid for several years and awaited patiently the call of his God.

My Great-Grandfather, Jacob Bobst, was brought to the United States as a young boy, listed on the ship's manifest as 3 yrs of age, with his parents, Phillip Jacob and Margaretha Lucron Bobst , along with his 5 siblings. They boarded the Ship John P Harward in Le Havre , France and began a 42 day journey across the ocean, heading to a new life in the United States of America. On Aug 5, 1846, it was announced in The New York Evening Post that the Ship John P Harward had sailed into Harbor, arriving the day before, with 216 passengers aboard. By Aug 6, the steerage was cleared and sworn by Capt. Washington Reed. Their new life began.
Jacob Bobst/Pabst was born in Bad Durkheim Germany and after immigrating with his parents in 1846, the family settled in Beaver Township, Pike County, Ohio. It was there on Feb 6, 1862, that Jacob married Elizabeth Kuntzman, daughter of John & Eva Marie Koch Kuntzman. They were blessed with eight children; Charlotte (married Martin M Hines), Philip (married Annie Onstott), George (married 1. Clara Leatherwood 2.Cora Rapp), Peter (married Elizabeth Nue), Christian (married Mollie Schrader), Lena (married Philip Schrader), Mary (married Samuel Sheridan), and John Jacob who died young.
There has been no tombstone found...death certificate states burial in Beaver, (Beaver Union Cemetery), where they had spent their entire lives.
