William Ray Villers, 87, of Fairmont, died Friday evening (Dec. 18, 2009) in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.
He was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Mannington, son of E.S. and Rosa May Leasure Villers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Offutt Villers, who died in 1979.
Mr. Villers was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fairmont and previously was active in various church activities.
Mr. Villers served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1981 from Westinghouse Corp. of Fairmont as a warehouse clerk. Mr. Villers was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and with the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Marabelle Reese Ford Villers of Fairmont; a son and his wife, Ronald William and Janice Villers of Fairmont; two brothers, James Russell Villers of Washington, Pa., and Grover Thomas of Metz; three sisters, Opal Grace Bobberts of Metz, Edna Mae Thomas of Metz and Erma Belle Prather of Lanark; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Villers was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
The family will greet friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from noon to 8 p.m. today. Visitation will continue in the First Church of the Nazarene, Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held in the Nazarene Church at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Waitman Hager officiating. Military flag folding services will be conducted in the church. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum, Fairmont. Condolences may be left at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
