John Haberman, son of Henry and Anna Margaretha Haberman, was born on Oct. 9, 1907 in Balzer, Russia. At the age of 5, with his parents, he came to America, settling at Sutton.
He passed away Wednesday, May 15, having reached the age of 55 years, 7 months and 6 days. On September 8, 1935 he was united in marriage to Lily Helzer. To this union a daughter and a son were born.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed church (sic) and was serving in his second term as an elder.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Lily; his daughter, Joan Riley, of Omaha; and son, Clark, of Lincoln. Also surviving are one sister, Amelia Rokel or (sic) Sutton; and four brothers, Henry of Morrill, Alexander of Portland, Ore., Rueben of Greeley, Colo., and Harold of Sutton. His parents, a sister and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton Saturday afternoon with Rev. George Bartell officiating. Mrs. Milton Fehr, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Mrs. Walter Maser was organist. Interment was in the Sutton cemetery (sic), with the Kohler Mortuary in charge. Bearers were Herbert Ulmer, Reinhold Ulmer, Milton Fehr, Robert Figi, Paul Bender and Henry Brening.
