The obituary of Isaac David Caudill as published in the February 12, 1942, issue of The Mountain Eagle:

I. D. Caudill Is Called By Death

I. D. Caudill, age 69, good Blackey citizen died died on Monday of this week at his home of heart trouble. Mr. Caudill had not been feeling well for a few days but his death was very unexpected. He is survived by his widow Minerva Cornett Caudill, and by Mrs. Mattie Loggans and Mrs. Gladys Buckhold daughters, and by two sons, Bruce and Howard, besides several brothers and sisters and a large number of other relatives and friends. His son, R. B. Caudill, Jr., was killed a few months ago in a car wreck.

I. D. Caudill will be sadly missed by the citizens of this county and especially in and around Blackey.

Craft Funeral Home had charge of the body and burial took place in the Caudill Cemetery near the mouth of Elk Creek.
