Leland Abe Cuvelier, age 88, of Aplington, Iowa was born the son of H. Elmore and Iva (Vincent) Cuvelier on February 25, 1924, near Hansell, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Dumont High School in Dumont, Iowa.

On June 28, 1945, Abe married LaVera Uhlenhopp. Abe worked at various jobs as a carpenter and as an electrician until he began working at John Deere. He worked at the shop, at the Monterrey, Mexico plant, as a supervisor and later in the suggestions department as an investigator. He retired from John Deere after twenty-three years of service.

Abe was in fellowship with the Hitesville Assembly. He enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful items for his family and friends. Abe and LaVera have many fond memories from their three trips to Australia, as well as their trips to Alaska and Hawaii. They also enjoyed taking their family on many camping trips across the United States. Abe was very diligent in keeping in touch with family and friends through email and phone calls.
