Vera Elaine Dooley, daughter of William F. and LouVina Ellen Johnson Baker, was born December 19, 1916, at rural Belleville, and died February 24, 2004, at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, at the age of 87.
She received her education in the public schools of Belleville, attending Belleville Center and later graduation from Belleville High School. She taught for one year at Summit Point School, District #35. On April 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Dooley, and to this union two daughters were born.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren, and later the Belleville Wesleyan Church. She also was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and the W.W.W. Club.
Dooley was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband, of Belleville; daughters Wilma Mulch of Belleville and Beth Franklin of Longview, TX; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held February 28 at the Wesleyan Church, Belleville, conducted by Pastor Gary Brewster of Bartlesville, OK. Interment was made at Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Belleville.
