Louis Ramon Jackson left this mortal existence August 30, 2012 at the home of his youngest son in Bountiful, UT surrounded by his loving family. He was born to parents Preston Walter Jackson and Nora Grace Taylor Jackson in Ogden, UT on April 13, 1929. He was the last of seven children. He was a kind, loving, honorable man who loved his family, the gospel, serving others, the arts, travel and learning.
Dad attended Oakland High School, University of Utah, UC Berkeley, San Jose State College and Brigham Young University. He served an honorable Uruguay/Paraguay LDS Mission. He married his sweetheart, Deanne Cluff of Ogden, in the Salt Lake Temple on March 20, 1953. Dad joined the US Army, which took the family to France, where he was a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC). When his tour of duty was complete, the family moved back to California.
Dad began his teaching career at Greenville High School in Greenville, CA. He also taught at Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo, CA for 17 years and then moved to Heber City, UT where he taught at Wasatch County High School until his retirement in 1993.
While in Heber City, Dad was appointed to serve on the Utah State Advisory Committee on Teacher Education. He also served as President of the Wasatch Education Association, member of the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission, Chair of the Wasatch School District Foundation, Chair of the Wasatch County Library Board and as a Heber City Councilman. He also loved writing for the Wasatch Wave. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Morrell, Harold, Wendell and Frank and granddaughter, Heather Leigh Berg. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, sisters, Florence (Ray) Tuttle and Gloria (Al) Peterson, children, Carrie (Michael) Berg of West Bountiful, UT, Richard (Janet) Jackson of Brigham City, UT, Gregory (Maria) Jackson of Bountiful, UT, and Paul (Kathryn) Jackson of Bountiful, UT, 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held at the Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, UT, on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
