Irene Lenora Aubol was born November 9, 1908 in Climax, MN, the daughter of Helmer and Clara (Bangen) Estenson.
In 1917, the family homesteaded in Big Bend Township of Mountrail County near Sanish. She attended Big Bend School and graduated from Plaza High School in 1928. She then attended the Trinity School of Nursing in Minot where she graduated in 1931.
On Sept. 17, 1932 she was united in marriage to Marius H. Aubol at Van Hook. They made their home in Sanish where they owned and operated Sanish Implement, which became Aubol Implement in 1953 when they moved to New town. She assisted with the operation of the family business, raised a family and for many years served as a midwife in the Sanish and New Town area. Marius died on Sept. 21, 1989.
Irene was an active member of Sanish English Lutheran Church and Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town, where she served on various church boards, taught Sunday school and was active with the ladies aid. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was known for her ability to make lefse and krumkake and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Marland (Millie), Clare, Royce (Marlys) and Roger (Linda) all of New Town; daughter, Lorna Masuo (Robert) of Edmonds, WA; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews, each dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Ramona Sather.
Funeral services were held in Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
