Maria was born to John Crossen and Drusilla Dickerson on 28 Jan 1853 in Athens county, Ohio. She was the second of ten (known) children born to that union and had several other half brothers and sisters through her father's first and third marriages. In 1920 Maria and Ephraim owned a rooming house at 458 Locust, Akron, Ohio, and had one daughter at home.
