Stanley Odstrcil, 41, was instantly killed while working on an oil rig near Albany. The well was being drilled as a deep test for the Maste Oil & Gas Company, located nine miles east of Albany. Stanley was maintenance man on the outfit and was looking after the machinery, when his jumper was caught by a clutch bolt and he was sucked into the draw works, and the hoisting clutch wheel killed him. Stanley had been with the company for nine months and was one of their most valuable men.

Services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Stanley Odstrcil moved with his parents to Baylor County in 1906 settling first at Bomarton. In 1907, the family settled at Mary's Creek community. In 1913, they moved to Megargel and than back to Baylor County settling on a farm in1919 southeast of Seymour.

Stanley attended school first at Mary's Creek and later at the old Seaborn school near Westover. When the family moved back from Megargel, he helped his father farm.

Stanley Odstrcil married Miss Albina Sosolik of the Mary's Creek community in 1928. The couple lived on the farm, east of town until 1931 when they moved to Red Springs. In 1932, the moved to Miller Creek. Stanley lost three crops to grasshoppers. In 1935, Stanley went to Grandfalls and had been engaged since 1938 in drilling operations His family owned their home there.

Survived by his wife; two sons - Julius and Stanley, Jr; one daughter - Mary Etta; two brothers - John Odstrcil and Adolph Odstrcil; one sister - Mrs. Bettie Bubela.

His mother preceded him in death in 1939 and his father lives with his daughter at Old Glory.
