William P. Carns of 526 Mt. Joy Road, Clearfield R.D. died in the Clearfield Hospital at 4:10 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 20. He was 81.

A life long resident of the Clearfield area, he was a retired carpenter and was born at Mt. Zion, Clearfield R.D., July 24, 1886, a son of the late John and Catherine (Harley) Carns.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Clearfield; the Osceola Mills .

American Legion Post and a veteran of World War I, serving in France with the Corps of Engineers.

His wife, Mary Blanche Carns, died in 1962.

The following children survive him: Mrs. Clarene (Catherine) Ruof, Dearborn, Mich.; Mrs. R. L. (Clara) McGregor and Mrs. W. B. (Judy) Carson III, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Leslie (Hane) Williams, and Mrs. Philip (Ellen) Armstron, Woodland; Mrs. Philip (Shirley) Wingard, Coatsville, and Miss Gail Carns, Clearfield. There are 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Bennett Funeral Home. The Rev. Oliver H. R. Krapf will officiate and interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends may call in the funeral home from 2 p.m. tomorrow unit the hour of services Saturday. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
