William was born on October 5, 1934, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to Ray Hanna and Ellen (Crisler) Hanna.
Bill married Marjorie Gerler on October 28, 1957, in Murphysboro, and she survives.
He had served in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict.
Bill had worked on the G.M. & O. Railroad, and he had owned and operated Der Hanna Haus in Jacob.
Mr. Hanna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro, the American Legion Post # 127 and the Elks Lodge # 572 in Murphysboro, the Chester Eagles Lodge, the Masonic Lodge of Murphysboro, the Scottish Rite and Ainad Shriners.
Other survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws Larry and Pam Hanna of Rockwood, and Lloyd and Angie Hanna of Campbell Hill; three grandchildren and three step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters Betty Hawkins of Decatur, Ark. and Mary Hanna of Gravette, Ark.;
and one brother Dean Hanna of Murphysboro.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2012, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Shaker Samuel officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, where Masonic Services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
