Denison. Three invalids were confined to their homes in Denison at the beginning of the present year. The last of the three passed away Friday June 18, in the person of John Wesley Bales who has been unable to leave his home in over a year. He suffered from a complication of pulmonary and other diseases being unable for several months to leave his bed. He was born Jan. 13, 1845 in Hancock county, Ind., April 15, 1866 he was married to Sarah Jane Smith. To them ten children were born, seven girls and three boys. Four of the girls and two of the boys with his wife survive him, also one brother and four sisters who with the exception of one sister live in Indiana. He came to Kansas in 1882 and lived for several years near North Cedar, later moving to his farm 6 miles south of Denison from whence he moved to town about four years ago. He united with the United Brethren church in Indiana in 1867 and later with the Graggs Chapel where he kept his membership till his death ... interment was made in Cedar Valley cemetery.
