Cheshire - Lester L. Johnston, 64, of Cheshire died Friday at Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua.

He was a World War II Army Veteran.

Mr. Johnston was a retired employee or the VA Medical Center where he had worked for more than 30 years.

He was member of the American Legion and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and had been an avid bowler and a member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his Wife, the former Viola Smith; two daughters, Mrs. David(Joyce) Prull and Mrs. Charles (Elaine) Lyon of Cheshire; a son, Harold of Hopewell; eight grandchildren; three sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Malanczukand Mrs. Gordon (Edna) Dobbs of Canandaigua and Mrs. William (Eunice)Haskins of Shortsville; four brothers, Stuart Johnston of Cheshire, Eugene Johnston Sr. and Leo Johnston of Canandaigua and Maurice Comings of Shortsville; Nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was conducted this afternoon at the Cheshire Community Church.

Burial is in Pine Bank Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Camp Good Days and Special Times, P.O. Box 245, Pittsford, 14534, or to the Cheshire Rescue Squad.

Arrangements were by the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home.
