John was a custodian for Philo public schools for his last 18 years. He was the son of William Harvey and Mary Ann Smith Adams. He married Alice Lee Adams in 1898 in Brodhead, KY. He had been a resident of Philo the last 35 years and was a member of the local Methodist church. Surviving are his widow, Alice and two children, Oscar Adams and Mrs. H.E. Harvey, Urbana. A sister Mrs. Mattie Rogers, Blair, OK also survives him.
