CAMBRIDGE CITY -- Rowena Bertsch Ammerman, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

Rowena was born in Cambridge City, Ind., on June 28, 1914, to the late Walter and Clara Shafer Bertsch. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1931 and then attended the Fort Wayne Business College.

She had lived in Henry County for 38 years, where she was engaged in farming with her first husband, Alonzo Myers. Recently she has lived in Cambridge City and Liberty and for the past three months at the home of her niece, Sandra Weir, in Centerville.

Rowena was involved in 4-H as an adult leader. She was a legal secretary and court reporter in New Castle for many years.

She is a member of Zion's Lutheran Church in Pershing, where she had also served as church secretary. Other memberships include the Psi Iota Xi sorority and the Neighborly Club of Cambridge City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Alonzo Myers; second husband, Herschel Ammerman, in 1996; niece, Patricia A. Hoover Siders, whom she and Mr. Myers raised; brother, Lloyd H. Bertsch ; sisters, Edna P. Bertsch Dennis and Eva K. Bertsch Graves; nephew, James U. Hoover.

Survivors include two nephews, John L. (late Carolyn) Bertsch of Fort Myers, Fla., and Steven D. (Carole) Derrick of Marietta, Ga.; three nieces, Sandra Derrick Rodewald Weir of Centerville, Connie R. Dennis Havens of Denver, Colo., and Cynthia Dennis Avery of Indianapolis; great-nieces and nephews, Suzanne (Keith) Bias of Liberty, Marianne Siders Sherwood of California, David Siders of Dublin, Robert (Roberta) Siders of Hagerstown, Carl (Connie) Siders of Richmond, Paula Siders of Fort Wayne, Kelly (Cathy) Rodewald of Greens Fork, Kurt Rodewald of Richmond, Amy Rodewald (Roman) Lazowski of Wisconsin and Molly Rodewald Oltrogge of Colorado, Zachary Derrick of Kentucky, Dr. Kendra Derrick (Paul) Kurtz of Georgia, Darla Bertsch (Joseph) Rodriguez, John L. (Tammy) Bertsch Jr., Michael (Jana) Bertsch, Lisa Bertsch (Kenneth) Eaton, all of Fort Myers, Fla.; great-great-niece, Sarah Siders of Richmond; and several other great and great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the Zion's Lutheran Church, 1151 S. Germantown Road in Pershing, IN 47370, with Rev. Dr. Clark Hobby officiating. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Zion's Lutheran Church or Psi Iota Xi sorority, Cambridge City chapter.
