Jason Barker was born March 25, 1845 in Lawrence Co, KY, the son of John Albert & Francis Fields Barker. He was the husband of Susannah Stephens whom he married April 17, 1869 in Lawrence Co, KY. He and Susannah were the parents of at least seven children: Anderson, Malinda, John, Celia, Oma, Rena & Grover Cleveland. It is thought that he and Susannah died in Argillite, Greenup Co KY near their daughter Malinda Fraley. No death cert has been found for either Jason or Susannah. Many of these documents went missing for this particular period of time in this area of KY.
Family legend is, my g-g-grandfather, Jason Barker, suffered with severe arthritis in his feet so badly that it prevented him from fighting in the Civil War. He accumulated a good portion of land and gave each of his three sons a farm as they left home. At the time of this writing, two of these three farms are still owned by Barker descendants. Grandpa Jason wore a full beard and was said to have shaved only twice in his entire life. He loved to fish and was fondly remembered by his grandchildren as Grandpap.

I have not found a death certificate for g-Grandpa Jason Barker or for g-Grandma Susannah in spite of intensive searching ..various spellings...dates, etc.. Seems to be a good number of other KY death certs missing from about this time.
