Alvina Nehring Kasner was born in Russia where her parents had moved from Ger­many in 1882. She came to America in 1904 and established residence in Pennsylvania. It was there that she met and married Reinhold Kasner, who survives her and ten of her eleven children. Mrs. Kasner became a Seventh-day Adventist while still a youth in Russia. She was a member of the Lethbridge, Alberta, Seventh-day Adventist Church. Alvina was fluent in reading and writing German and English.

She gave birth to eleven children: Emil, (Wisconsin) Arthur (Thorsby, Alberta), Adena Kiem (British Columbia), Hilda Razzolini (Lethbridge, Alberta), Robert (Wisconsin), Edward, Adella Kuyath, Eda (Died of summer complaint), John, Clarence, and Herman (Youngest five siblings live in Lethbrige, Alberta).
