Jack Aldred Beaver
93, died peacefully Monday, July 2, 2012. He was born December 1, 1918 in Portland, Oregon to Mike and Erma Beaver. Sadly, Erma died in childbirth and Mike later married Dassah Sheetz. The family moved to California where Jack graduated from Beverley Hills High School in 1936. He then attended UCLA until 1940 when he joined the Army Air Corps. He met and married Mary Margaret (Peggy) English in 1941 while stationed in San Antonio, Texas. Following Jack's return from WWII and his graduation from UCLA they moved to Redlands. He was called back into military service in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Jack was awarded the Bronze Star for his service to his country. Upon returning to Redlands, he became the founding partner in Beaver, Wilcoxson and Davis Insurance. In 1954 he was asked by the Republican Party to be a candidate for the California State Assembly. He was elected and served four terms, retiring in 1962. Due to his expertise as the Chairman of the Water Resources committee in the State Assembly and his interest in developing water resources for the Inland Empire he was selected to be the General Manager of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, where he worked until he retired. He was active in Kiwanis and Masons. He also served as a lay reader for the trinity Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Beaver; and his sister, Bettye Allen of Belvedere, California. In addition, he is survived by his children Meredith and Roger Fouts of Dundee, Oregon, Tim and Nerissa Beaver of Seattle, Washington, Patrick and Jann Beaver of Redlands; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 21, 2012 at 10:00 am in the Rose Garden at Trinity Episcopal Church, 419 S 4th St., Redlands.
