She was born Aug. 14, 1907, and was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. She attended Milligan College and graduated from East Tennessee State University. She retired in 1973, after teaching 42 years in the Sullivan County School System. Miss Hatcher taught at Rader's School and was principal at Mount Holston and High Point Elementary, before going to Bluff City Elementary School. She was a member of the Sullivan County Retired Teacher's Association and a member of Rockhold United Methodist Church for 78 years.
Miss Hatcher was a solid rock of determination and strength to all who knew her and a blessing to her family and friends.
