Mrs. Lina B. Porter, who passed away at her home in Lacona, Monday, August 16, was the second daughter born to Samuel and Mary (Bartlett) Blodgett, July 30, 1857 Mrs. Porter was married to Charles Porter October 25, 1875, and to them was born one daughter, Ethel H.
Mrs. Porter has been a patient sufferer from a long and lingering illness covering more than a year's time during which she was ever cheerful and bright making the best of her life here. She was carefully cared for by her family and friends during her illness. Her life was quietly spent in the vicinity where she was born, where she made many friends. She was a member of the local Grange and of the L.O.T.M.
Mrs. Porter is survived by the husband and daughter, two sisters, Mrs. Alice Vanderhoof, of Lacona and Mrs. N.B. Sage, of Brooklyn and two brothers, M.S. of Lacona and Fred N. of Glenfield.
The funeral was largely attended from her late home Wednesday, Rev. W.W. Onderdonk officiating. Interment in Woodlawn.
Friends from out of town who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Porter, Phoenix, Mrs. Hattie Porter, Caughdenoy, Arthur Porter, Three River Point; F.N. Blodgett, Glenfield and Mrs. Adda Sage and children of Brooklyn.
