"Robert M. "Skip" Ritter, age 64, of Erie, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 7, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center. Born in Erie on November 11, 1943, he was a son of the late Michael B. and Myrtle (Bolkey) Ritter. Until his retirement in 2006, he was a maintenance mechanic at Lord Corporation for forty years. He was a member of Saint Jude the Apostle Church. Skip enjoyed gardening, walking, attending antique auto shows and following the Ohio sports teams. He was a former union steward, and was a dedicated family man with a great sense of humor. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Ritter and Clement Martin. Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise (Demuling) Ritter, whom he married in 1965; a daughter, Laura Lavery, husband Michael, of Erie; a granddaughter, Maya Lavery, of Erie; and siblings, Dorothy Crock, of Woodbridge, Va., William Martin, wife Dawn, of Oakridge, La., Miriam Swiencki, of Erie, Michael H. Ritter, wife Joann, of Erie, Joanne Ritter, of Panorama City, Calif., Geraldine Baker, of Erie, Thomas Ritter, wife Mary Ann, of Erie, Richard Martin, wife Lupe, of Calhoun, La., and Sally McCallion, husband James, of Erie; and also, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Services will be held there Saturday at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Jude the Apostle Church at 9 o'clock. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Saint George School, 5145 Peach St., 16509."
