EVELYN R. MOEDE

Evelyn R. Moede, age 84, of 305 Elm St., Reedsville, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1919, daughter of the late Edward and Ella (Holdorf) Streckert, in the town of Eaton. Evelyn graduated from Kiel High School in 1937, and from UW-Milwaukee in 1941. She married Leslie Moede on Sept. 17, 1949. She taught elementary school in Rhinelander, West Bend, Appleton and Reedsville, where she served as elementary principal from 1968 to 1982. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Reedsville, where she was active, holding offices in all the organizations. She also was a member of the Maple Rock Homemakers, American Legion Auxiliary Post 3199, Manitowoc County Retired Educators Association, and was named Citizen of the Year by the Reedsville Lions Club.
Evelyn loved to spend time with he children and grandchildren, garden, read, play golf, and spend winters in Arizona.
Survivors include her husband Leslie; two sons, Bruce (Sonya) Moede of Oshkosh and Douglas (Michelle) Moede of Whitelaw; a daughter, Mary Pohl of Two Rivers; her grandchildren: Shawn Moede and special friend Heather Sievert of Manitowoc, Amber (Tyson) Wotruba of Manitowoc, Chad and Derek Pohl of Two Rivers; three great-grandchildren: Morgan Moede of Manitowoc, Katelyn and August Wotruba of Manitowoc; a sister, Delores (Allan) Berge of Brillion; a brother, Edward (Janice) Streckert of Valders; a sister-in-law, Alberta Streckert of Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Arnold and Alice Moede; a brother, Orman Streckert; a sister and brother-in-law, Ione and Clarence Leys.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., at Zion United Methodist Church in Reedsville. The Rev. James Barnes will officiate. .Burial will be in Zion Evergreen Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., and at the church until the time of services.
The Moede family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Reedsville First Responders, Valders Rescue Squad, Dr. Maroski, the emergency personnel, the Critical Care Unit at Holy Family Memorial, the Rehab and Cardiac Rehab Units, Rev. Barnes and Deacon Rahlf Proulx for all their love and care given to Mom.
Life holds many blessings, but there are very few that compare with that of having loved a person as wonderful as you. And because you're loved so much, this brings a special prayer that God will bless you always, and keep you in His care.
Evelyn touched many lives in so many loving ways. We are all better people for having had the chance to know and love her. She will be in our hearts forever. Sadly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many, many friends.
And when the sun shines and you feel the warmth on your skin, know it's me, my gentle touch, and that I loved you all so very much!
