Glen Ellis 'Dick' Jones was born December 26, 1935, at Osceola to Thomas Riley Jones and Eva Marie Jewell Baumgarden Jones. He died May 20, 2005, at his home in Clinton following a short illness. His family, who had lovingly cared for him the last few months, was by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Peggy Jane; daughter, Karen Kaye Lawrence; and his wife Stella's sons, Gerald, Vernon Lee and Roger Foster. He is survived by Stella Foster Jones, his wife of 27 years; his children, Glenda (Steve) Cox of Butler, Teresa (Kenny) Jones of Richmond, Sharon Raye (Clint) Schuman of Butler, Jeff (Michelle) Jones of Clinton; Stella's son, Darrell (Mona) Foster of Clinton; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leo 'Corkey' (Pauline) Baumgarden of Garden City, Donald Ray (Maxine) Jones, Darrell (Connie) Jones, Thomas H.'Tommy' (Brenda) Jones, all of Clinton; sisters, Wilma Jean Williams of Humansville, and Arlene (Carl) Landon of Bolivar; many nieces and nephews. Dick and Stella opened their home to their grandson, Tony, and raised him from the age of six after his mother was killed in a car accident. Dick especially enjoyed teaching Tony how to fish. Dick had worked at various jobs throughout his life. He was in the National Guard from 1957-63. He had farmed for Harold Cook, driven truck for Clearfield and Brigs & Tillman, and worked on high lines with his dad. He retired from the Henry County Bridge Crew in 2000. Among Dick's favorite things to do were fishing, riding horses, having fish fries, holidays, anything that involved being with family and friends, joking around, lots of laughter and having a good time. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. His family meant the world to him and he was happiest when they were together. He will be missed more than words can tell.
