Almon Baight, well known sawmill and lumber man, prominent in the business life of Snodes and the community at large, died in his home in that village at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Death came very unexpectedly.

For the last three week Mr. Baight had been sick, a sufferer from a combination of troubles, and intention had been to enter the Alliance City hospital today to undergo operation, but he took a sudden turn for the worse and passed away.

Almon Baight was 56 years of age, born in Atwater December 8, 1862. It was here that he grew to manhood and engaged upon his business career taking up mill and lumber work and ever making it his life vocation. Leaving Atwater he went to Berlin Center, for five years engaging in mill work there. Nineteen years ago he located at Snodes establishing saw mill, hoop bending plant, cider mill and apple butter factory, the industry ever being a most successful one. With him in the work was associated his brother, Charles Baight.

Deceased was a splendid man and citizen of highest honor and integrity ever holding the admiration and respect of all. His home and business was his life and in his passing all realize that a worthy and useful man and citizen, friend and neighbor has gone. Fraternally he was a member of the order of Macabees at Beloit.

He was twice married, his wife and one daughter by the former marriage, Mrs. Roy Bishop of Charlestown, surviving. Four grandchildren are living as are also one brother and one sister, Charles Baight, Snodes, and Mrs. Ida Mattoon of Youngstown.
