When just a small child Margie's parents passed away. Her mother Magnolia "Nodie," a daughter of James Houston Davis and Frances Rachel "Fanny" Smith, died from Sarcoma of the Liver. Her father Rueben, a son of Rueben Perkins and Katherine "Kate" Pearson, died from Bronchial Pneumonia.

In the 1920 Boone, Greene County, MO Census Margie M Perkins, age 4, is living with her aunt and uncle John Singleton, 43, and Etta M Perkins, 55. Margie was born in Missouri, as was her mother, her father in Indiana.

When your husband is a superintendent of a fish hatchery, family life revolves around the many duties of the often "around-the-clock" job description. Margie's husband Guy served as Superintendent at the Sequiota Fish Hatchery in Springfield for 15 years, and 10 years at the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery below the dam at Table Rock Lake near Branson, MO. With 43 years of service, and employed at every trout hatchery over the years, he may still be the longest serving employee of the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Margie was a wife, mother, homemaker, hostess and cook, and likely sometimes hatchery worker. Margie and Guy are the parents of Freda Berry Curd, JoAnn Berry Porter and Mike Berry.
