Robert Wilfred (Bob) Finnie, of Scituate, 83, died on March 8th, 2010 after a period of declining health.


He was a Scituate Police Officer until his retirement in 1978 at the rank of sergeant. He and his wife Emily owned and operated Bishops Store on Hatherly Road for many years. He was known to much of Scituate as Bob Finnie, the Locksmith."


Mr. Finnie was a US Army Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong Scituate resident and member of the Harbor United Methodist Church; a SHS Class of 1944 graduate; Fifty Year Past Master of the Satuit Masonic Lodge; Fifty Year Past Patron of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Mass. Locksmiths Assn.


Mr. Finnie was the husband of the late Emily L. (Whittaker) Finnie; brother of the late Arthur S., Alden W. and James Finnie Jr. who were all lifelong Scituate residents. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Finnie; a granddaughter, Julie A. Smith; and a grandson, David R. Smith, all of Scituate.


Visiting hours will be held at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate followed by a Masonic and Memorial Service. Interment will be held on a later date.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobs memory to the Scituate Firefighters Union, who were so good to him over the past many years, P.O.
