Nannie Pitts Clary, age 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died at 11:30 am, Saturday, July 14, 1979, at Camp Haen Nursing Home, Inman, after a long illness.

A native of Spartanburg County, SC; daughter of the late Jordan Buford Pitts (1861–1941) and Addie Tillotson Pitts (1869–1948); husband of the late John Sims Clary (1886–1944).

A member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, an active member of WSCS, and a junior department teacher for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Eveleth Eugenia Clary Gobble (1910–1997), Mary Lou Clary Adams (1911–1994), Marion Mae Clary Boggs (1919–2006), and Martha Clary Sitton (1924–2002); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Moss Hayes Pitts (1900–1986), Hazel Pitts Hooper (1903–1990), and Montie Lee Pitts Hall (1907–1996).

Also predeceased by siblings, Arthur Eugene Pitts (1893–1959), Addie Viola Pitts Bowers (1896–1971), and Jordan Buford Pitts (1905–1909)

The family received friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Sunday, July 15, 1979, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

Services were held at 3:00 pm, Monday, July 16, 1979, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel by Rev. Will R. Brown; interment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
