She was born July 7, 1933, in Philippi, Barbour County, WV, a daughter of the late Isaac B. Poling and Hallie (Blake) Poling. Her companion of 31 years, John "Ed" Gordon, survives.
Nancy was retired from Grafton City Hospital where she was employed as a cook with 26 years service. Nancy enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook, she also enjoyed shopping. She was a Christian by faith.
At the time of her death, she was survived by: two sons, James A. Sapp and wife Teresa Ann Sapp, of Hernando, FL, and John B. Sapp and wife Heidi, of Lake Worth, FL; three daughters, Tracy Elaine Bates, of Grafton, Flora B. Gray and husband James "Spike" Gray, of Grafton, and Nancy Ann Burdette and companion Sonny Duncan, of Knottsville; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Elaine "Peppy" Mauller and husband Tom, of Grafton; two brothers, Arthur "Buck" Poling and wife Faye, of Grafton, and Johnny Poling, of Grafton; two brothers-in-law, Donald Slaton and Bubby Austin, both of Grafton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one son Isaac Paul Sapp; two grandsons, PFC Brandon Sapp, and Blake Sapp; one brother, Isaac "Dow" Poling; and three sisters, Martha Slaton, Janie Austin, and Bobbie Alexander.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Monday from 4 p.m. -8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. Interment at Woodsdale Memorial Park.
